VMV Hypoallergenics is a hypoallergenic brand of cosmeceutical beauty products. The family-run business was founded in 1979 by a renowned dermatologist who is still engaged in the laboratory every day conducting tests (never on animals!).
VMV had recently undergone a massive re-branding effort and needed SD to translate that into the online space. Our work was comprehensive – we designed and built an e-commerce website that complemented their new logo and new typefaces with a new look and feel, new information architecture, new payment gateway, and new fulfillment integration. And in order to expand VMV’s online business, we took full advantage of the powerful Magento platform.

To drive new customer acquisition SD created a custom “Buy a Sample” program that allows shoppers to buy samples for a deep discount based on the amount of their overall purchase. VMV can also build promotions around the sample program and include free samples based on total purchase volume.
Key among the sites functions was the “Skinsider’s Circle” customer rewards program. Any purchase automatically moves a customer into the first tier of the program, and they can move up to additional tiers based on purchase volume.
On the heels of opening their first store in the flatiron district, VMV’s new e-commerce website is on a path for success. Though it’s still early in the tracking process, initial trends show that the new site is yielding a 61% increase in new user registrations, a 43% increase in online purchases and 30% increases (week over week) in total revenue.
