Network Engineer

Location: New York, NY

we'll need you to

- Design, install and administer multiple client sites including routers, switches, firewalls / IPS /other security appliance, wireless and / or application acceleration
- Provide strong knowledge of industry best practices including architecture, fault-tolerant design, and performance optimization for mission critical implementations
- Provide strong working knowledge of vendor market, product families and selection criteria
- Ensure IT projects are delivered on time and meet or exceed business expectations
- Assist in the development of proposals for new client projects
- Track add-ons and items outside the scope of work on current projects and document same
- Ensure incident projects and service requests are closed on time and with high customer satisfaction
- Keep current on new technologies and applications
- Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors
- Strong analytical and professional office experience needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- In-depth knowledge of the interdependencies / links across the various technologies
- Hands-on network experience with Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UPD, Latency, VoIP, Qos, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS, etc.
- Application specific protocols (SMTP / email server, H.323, SIP, Samba file share)
- Ability to troubleshoot and isolate faults in system in networks
- Sniffer / packet capture knowledge
- Incumbents must possess strong analytical skills and effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a wide range of users with different levels of technical expertise
- Experience in exercising independent judgment in client environments and knowledge of proper escalation procedures- Ability to communicate with multiple departments with professional written and verbal communications skills
- Incumbents must successfully perform their job under minimum supervision
- Network engineers must be able to transport themselves to various client sites as required, work overtime and be on call as required.
- Five years of network experience with Cisco routers and switches
- Ability to work nights / weekends
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information technology and / or technical specialization
